About Us
Our Story
Gyan-Setu started in 2013 as a program by the Educational Activities and Research Center (EARC) of Jnana Prabodhini. The brainchild of late Mr. Vivek Ponkshe and his students, who came up with an innovative idea of national integration through science popularization.
Gyan-Setu aims to engage with volunteers of all ages from across India to spread the joy of learning science,while also building “human bridges” to connect with these communities. Since then, Jnana Prabodhini has collaborated with many regional organizations working in developmentally challenged states of India like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, and Jharkhand. Gyan-Setu volunteers travel to these places and conduct science workshops in schools there. Along with this, volunteers also explore the way of life and the challenges faced by these communities.
Gyan-Setu has created motivation for school children to get interest in science and inspiration for volunteers to understand the grassroot problems which inspire them to pursue careers in the social sector. The journey that started with a few volunteers and schools, is now providing a platform to hundreds of volunteers (from college students to retired elders)to connect with and spread the joy of science with thousands of students in the remote corners of India.
